How did you get into this profession?
Itallstartedwith a question from a very close friend: “Would you like to officiate our non-religious wedding ceremony? I’m sure you can do it!” Being the spontaneous and adventurous person that I am, I said yes right away. That’s how it all began, and suddenly the idea of doing this professionally really captivated me. So I started looking into it, found the training program for independent wedding officiants in Germany through a dear colleague who’s also an officiant, and signed up right away. Shortly after completing the training, I was already officiating my first weddings. It was such a joy—and it still is to this day.
What makes you so special?
Being able to officiate the wedding of twopeople I care about is a great honor for me, and I deeply appreciate the trust that couples place in me. It’s especially important to me that my wedding ceremonies fulfill the couples’ wishes and visions—no matter how crazy they may be. I’m known for my cheerful and open nature, my enthusiasm for people and their stories, my sense of humor, and my international outlook. But no matter who I am, what I do, or what I’m capable of—what matters most is that my couples feel comfortable.
What do you love about the wedding industry?
Ilove that there are so many possibilities and variations, and that every couple can plan their wedding exactly according to their wishes and ideas. Whether it’s a small or large celebration, colorful and wild or simple and romantic, cheerful and lively or calm and serene—there really is something for everyone.
Why Are Non-Religious Wedding Ceremonies So Popular?
More and morecouples want a wedding ceremony that’s completely personal and tailored just for them. For most, however, the location and style of the ceremony are also key reasons for choosing a non-religious wedding: They want to get married at a special place that means a great deal to them, or they love the informality, relaxed atmosphere, flexibility, and individuality of such a ceremony. There are also couples who have already been married in a church or who have different religious beliefs and therefore opt for a non-denominational wedding. So there really are many different reasons.
