Burgenland is located in eastern Austria and borders Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia. The region boasts above-average sunshine: nowhere else in Austria are so many sunny days recorded each year. Due to its location behind the Alps, clouds from the west usually don’t reach Burgenland until after the rain has passed. Heat waves from the Mediterranean create a Mediterranean climate, spectacular natural phenomena, and a dreamlike setting for summer weddings.
Countless wines are grown in Burgenland, and many of the idyllic wineries can also be rented for wedding celebrations. But the region’s many magnificent castles and palaces are also popular venues for saying “I do.” The 12-meter-high lighthouse in Podersdorf (see photo) is a very popular backdrop for wedding photos and offers a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Neusiedl.
Amid vineyards, nature reserves, and Lake Neusiedl, there are many charming spots and wedding venues in Burgenland. And one thing is certain: you’re unlikely to find such a high chance of sunshine on your wedding day in any other region of Austria.

The Vienna Wedding Guide, the Lower Austria Wedding Guide, and the Burgenland Wedding Guide are now combined into one: In the brand-new successor to these popular books, you’ll find not only a comprehensive directory of service providers from Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland, but also tips, trends, and guides for wedding planning, as well as stunning photo spreads showcasing creative wedding inspiration and real wedding photo essays.
