The beauty of non-denominational weddings is the freedom—in the truest sense of the word. You’re not bound by any set procedures, denominations, or prescribed rituals. Instead, the focus is on the couple’s personalities. Everything is allowed; nothing is required. It’s about creating a ceremony that truly reflects the people saying “I do”—with all their facets, their story, their wishes, and their sense of humor. For me as a wedding officiant, it’s something very special when I get to put this unique story into words. It’s different every time, because every couple is different. And that’s exactly what makes independent wedding ceremonies so special: they’re lively, personal, emotional, and simply authentic.

Absolutely—and I’d be more than happy to! For me, part of what makes a non-religious wedding ceremony special is that you can include the people closest to you. Whether through personal contributions, little surprises, musical performances, or symbolic rituals—there are many beautiful ways for family and friends to be part of your ceremony. Together, we’ll figure out what suits you best and how to integrate their participation seamlessly and harmoniously into the flow of the ceremony. After all, it’s often precisely these personal moments that give the ceremony a very special depth and warmth.
Is humor allowed in a speech?
For me, absolutely! To me, humor is just as much a part of love as the big emotions. Your story is unique—and it often includes a good dose of charm, wit, or situational comedy. I love incorporating exactly these small, genuine moments into the speech—with sensitivity, a twinkle in my eye, and always in a way that you can recognize yourselves in them. Because a ceremony should be touching, make you laugh, and feel lighthearted. It’s not about putting on a perfect show—it’s about creating a genuine, lively moment.
