There are few things that evoke a luxurious lifestyle quite like a wedding by a lake. No wonder—after all, we mainly know about them from movies and tabloids, which reported on John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s exclusive dream wedding on Lake Como. But you can also get married by beautiful lakes in Austria—even if you don’t have a Hollywood budget. Our Carinthian wedding guide’s wedding inspiration section shows you how to make it happen .
As with most wedding designs, the stationery makes the first impression. With its gold-leaf wax seals, tracing paper, and debossed details, it has a distinctly high-end look. The linden leaf, which is used as a recurring design element, offers a subtle hint about the wedding venue.
Accepting this invitation, we head to the shores of Lake Wörthersee, whose turquoise-blue waters create a stunning contrast to the orange, yellow, and coral hues of the Wedding design. The venue is decorated in a boho style with macramé, bouquets of flowers hanging from the treetops, and table runners made of natural linen.
The non-religious wedding ceremony takes place right above the water on the wooden dock, where the spectacular wedding arch, with its three support posts, almost resembles a dome. The bride and groom stand beneath this dome: she in a beautiful off-the-shoulder wedding dress with a corset top, and he in a summery, beige suit—very casual, without a bow tie or necktie. After the ceremony, their daughter joins the newlywed parents. She’s wearing a dress that’s just as casual as her dad’s suit and pairs perfectly with her mom’s wedding dress.
