Is it worth attending a wedding fair?

The only real answer: Yes!!! Okay, we’ll admit it—we’re just a tiny bit biased when it comes to wedding fairs. Why? Because we host the Luft & Liebe® Wedding Festival in Austria 12 times a year. But of course, even from a completely objective standpoint, there are plenty of good reasons to visit a wedding fair:

Trendy colors, floral arrangements, and new ideas for table decorations or wedding invitations—stroll past the various booths and let the inspiration sink in.

• Goodie Bags

At wedding fairs, you often end up with paper bags full of flyers and business cards—which, in our opinion, doesn’t have much to do with the word “good.” For the sake of the environment—and because we want to avoid a flood of disposable promotional items—our wedding festival features a lovely goodie bag made of Fairtrade-certified cotton, filled with great things you can actually use for your wedding. Everything else just ends up in the trash anyway.

• Pinterest Up Close and Personal

A wedding fair can offer some truly amazing wedding inspiration—and unlike scrolling through Pinterest, you can actually touch the wedding rings, wedding photos, wedding dresses, and floral arrangements. As the ones making the decisions for your wedding, you really shouldn’t underestimate this factor: feeling the stationery, running your fingers over the fabric of the suit, and not just talking about possible wedding ring engravings but seeing them on real examples—all of this helps you find your style for the wedding.

• Get to Know Service Providers in Person

At a wedding fair, you don’t meet the service providers’ marketing-optimized online personas—you meet them in person. Especially when it comes to highly personalized services—such as officiants for non-religious ceremonies, stylists, wedding musicians, DJs, or wedding photographers—it’s important that you’re on the same page and that you get along well.

• Auditions & Networking

Getting to hear several wedding bands and singer-songwriters perform live one after another—that’s one of the real perks of a wedding fair! You’ll often have the chance to talk to the musicians about their repertoire and musical styles. It’s also worth listening in on conversations at the booths: When other couples are getting information, you can join them and eavesdrop. Or you can strike up a conversation with other couples and connect with like-minded people.
