Bistro chairs, antique candlesticks, and French flair are making a big comeback this year! 2022 will be—at least when it comes to weddings—a year of French nonchalance and carefree spirit! But a wedding in the spirit of “La vie en rose” doesn’t necessarily require the Eiffel Tower in the wedding photo or a lush field of lavender behind the wedding arch. You can get married like they do in France even with simpler touches! The French theme can be incorporated not only into wedding stationery, fashion, and decor, but also into the special activities planned for the big day itself.

Instead of large round tables, tables are increasingly being pushed together to form long banquet tables and paired with simple French bistro chairs. It starts off light and airy with the vin d’honneur: The champagne reception features, as is customary, champagne paired with fromage or mise en bouche—that is, elaborately arranged appetizers. In the evening, however, the menu becomes hearty and varied: Boeuf Bourguignon, Coq au vin, steak tartare, and ratatouille. And for the wedding cake? Croquembouche!
