As an experienced wedding officiant, Christina brings not only a great deal of empathy but also her expertise as a speech therapist and voice coach. If we choose you as our wedding speaker, what happens next?
After you’ve said “yes” to each other, we usually meet twice. Our first meeting is all about getting to know you as a couple and discussing your ideas for the non-religious wedding ceremony. Together, we’ll delve into your love story. After that, the planning continues: You’ll receive a personalized questionnaire, which you’ll each fill out separately and send to me in writing. This way, I’ll already have a much clearer picture of both of you by the time of our second meeting. At our next meeting, we’ll focus on putting the finishing touches on the ceremony and working out the specific details. I’ll learn even more about you both and your life together before I begin writing the speech. Then your words and mine will come together to create the perfect ceremony.
Guests often want to play a part in the non-religious wedding ceremony as well. How do you incorporate that?
I’m always very happy to receive guest contributions. These come from people who know you well. My experience with guest contributions has been positive. I’m open to the idea and see myself as the point of contact. I’m happy to handle the coordination and ensure the guest contributions flow seamlessly into the ceremony. Usually, everything goes through me so that the wedding couple is surprised and can let go of this responsibility.
What do you think about rituals in non-religious wedding ceremonies?
I think rituals are really beautiful. It’s important to me that they suit you. Many couples opt for “classic” rituals like a wedding candle or a sand ritual. Every ritual has its own meaning and contributes to the uniqueness of the ceremony. Guests often want to surprise you with a ritual as well. The exchange of rings and the vows are also very moving moments. I often work with the couple to create personalized rituals. A wedding wreath made of yeast dough has been my favorite so far.
Will we get a chance to review your speech beforehand?
The speech is meant to be a surprise—you’ll receive it as a gift after the wedding ceremony. You can rest assured that I’ll choose my words carefully so that they’re appropriate for everyone in attendance. During the ceremony, you can relax, enjoy yourselves, and listen.
Can we book " Christinas Worte " for other celebrations as well?
Yes, of course—I use my words to help mark all of life’s celebrations, whether it’s a non-denominational baptism, an anniversary, or a farewell. I’m happy to be a part of these special ceremonies.
