The flow of a non-religious wedding ceremony is as unique as you are as a couple. Together, we’ll discuss your ideas and wishes and develop a cohesive plan. An example of a “classic sequence” for a non-religious wedding ceremony would be: 1. Welcome, 2. Story of how you met, 3. Ritual, 4. Wedding ceremony (exchange of rings, vows, marriage question posed by the officiant), 5. Closing remarks, and 6. Recessional.
Rituals are a wonderful way to symbolize your love. Here are some popular ideas that can be incorporated into your ceremony:
Candle ritual: The wedding candle is lit together.
Sand ritual: Two different-colored sands are combined in a single vessel to symbolize your unique yet inseparable bond.
Ring ritual: The rings are passed from guest to guest so that everyone can offer their best wishes to the couple before the rings are exchanged.
Flower ritual: The wedding guests form a circle of flowers around the couple. Each flower symbolizes a wish for the couple. These wishes can be read aloud by the guests as they scatter the flowers.
Personalized rituals: Of course, you can work together to bring your own ideas and suggestions to life.
That’s actually one of the most common questions I get. My passion for words led me to become a freelance wedding speaker through a wedding podcast. That’s where I first heard a speech during a non-religious wedding ceremony, and I was deeply moved. I immediately wanted to help others experience the same emotions I had felt myself. So I’ve made it my mission to bring joy to people in a unique way by bringing their personal stories to life.
Speaking for and in front of people is a labor of love for me. I do what I do from the heart—with plenty of creativity, dedication, and passion, as well as a deep interest in the person and their story. It fulfills me to bring joy to the people I care about and to see them happy—and with my custom speeches, I can achieve exactly that. It’s important to me to strike a balance in my writing between deep emotions and a touch of lightheartedness. This results in speeches that not only touch and move people, but also bring a smile to their faces and leave a lasting impression.
