What do you like about being a freelance public speaker?
Actually, this question can be answered in one sentence: I love people! But since I’m not entirely sure if the uncompromising nature of this statement comes across, I’d like to elaborate briefly. I love people. I love hearing their stories—their motivations, their drive. It’s incredibly fascinating to me to learn what truly matters to a couple and to each person individually. I get to peek behind the scenes. And then I get to weave all of that into a speech and share it. Mit Worten —it’s so powerful to be a part of this work. Celebrating these people and their stories, their love. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful professions in the whole world!
How do you write your speech?
Exactly as I feel them. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, because no couple is the same. Each one is uniquely special, and my speech must be just as special. That’s my personal standard.
Aren't you nervous when you speak in front of so many people?
I’d be lying if I said no. And I don’t like to lie. Ever. Yes, I’m nervous, jittery, and excited. But that’s a good thing. It’s good because the speech for my bride and groom is important to me. Because I’m fully aware of the responsibility I have for this wedding. This isn’t something to be taken lightly. But I love what I do, and that’s how you end up feeling a certain lightness. And that’s exactly how the speech should be: light, lively, genuine, and from the heart.
Where can you hold a non-religious wedding ceremony?
Everywhere! The only thing we really need is you two as a couple. And your love, of course. That's non-negotiable ;)
What is the most important thing about a non-religious wedding ceremony?
It's the same as everywhere else in life! People! I'll leave it at that. Because it's so important to me.
