Many people dream of a destination wedding in Italy—this wedding concept shows you how it can become a reality even when planning from Austria. The fact that this wedding inspiration was brought to life by service providers from Austria in no way detracts from the Italian flair; on the contrary, every detail has been meticulously coordinated and organized. Frequently Asked Questions About Goldschmiede Alexandra Eder

What makes your work so special?

My day-to-day work is never boring. Some customers come in with specific requests, while others have only a vague idea, and I get to get creative and come up with suggestions. Many of my customers also know that I always have a few special treasures in my studio, and they trust that they’ll find a handmade piece of jewelry for the occasion that will bring them joy for years to come. My clients appreciate the personalized consultation and the opportunity to speak with me directly. They see my workshop and know where their rings are being crafted. I advise them on choosing the material for their rings (color isn’t the only important factor here), can present various stones for them to choose from, and can accommodate small changes even on short notice.

What trends are currently emerging?

Two trends have become increasingly evident over the past few years: First, there is a strong emphasis on individuality—customers who visit a goldsmith value personal interaction and want to know who is crafting their jewelry. Second, the issues of sustainability, fair trade, and recycling processes are taking center stage. Conflict-free supply chains—for both precious metals and gemstones—are not just a passing trend.

What advice do you have for engaged couples?

Stay true to yourselves! Time and again, I see couples drifting further and further away from their original wishes as they get into the nitty-gritty of planning. This is often due to too much well-meaning advice from others. My tip: Find one or two vendors for each category (personal recommendations are often worth their weight in gold here). The photos and reviews online will show you whether their style matches yours, and after the first contact by phone or email, you’ll usually know if the chemistry is right.

What should you look for when buying a ring?

Allow plenty of time. You should definitely plan on two months—ideally, even longer. Of course, it’s possible to do it on shorter notice—I frequently encounter couples who make quick decisions, and I’m able to present them with their dream wedding rings within just a few weeks. Often, however, the decision-making process takes longer (I sometimes create a second or third design), and it shouldn’t be rushed due to time constraints. You’ll most likely wear your wedding rings every day—and hopefully for a lifetime. You should keep that in mind when it comes to your budget. Here, too, a consultation can provide a lot of clarity; the goldsmith can adapt the design to your budget to a certain extent, but can also help you avoid pitfalls when trying to save money. After all, what’s the point if the rings were a bargain but you’re not happy with them?‍‍
