For example, if the trend for wedding dresses is “classic and clean,” that doesn’t mean you, as the bride, have to completely forgo lace, even if you prefer it. As long as you follow your own desires and bring your vision to life, it doesn’t matter at all whether it’s currently trendy or not. That’s why I place special emphasis on working with my couples to develop a personalized concept that perfectly reflects their wishes. A wedding shouldn’t be planned based on the criteria of a Vogue cover, but rather on the couple’s style and vision—that’s exactly what makes for a perfect and unique wedding.
As soon as the bride and groom realize that they’re getting nervous just thinking about the planning or the big day itself, they should seek professional help. After all, people often go to a travel agency to save themselves all the research and deliberation—and simply to make sure everything goes smoothly on the big day—and you can think of a wedding planner or coordinator in exactly the same way. I help couples stay focused and make their dream of the perfect wedding celebration come true.
People often underestimate the fact that a day like this only has 24 hours, whether it’s during the planning phase or on the day itself. During the planning phase, people often think they still have plenty of time—following the mindset: “I’ll easily be able to plan a wedding in 1.5 years.” What many people underestimate is that everyday life continues to go on in the meantime—whether it’s your day job, taking care of the kids and the household, or social gatherings and celebrations. You quickly realize that you’ll need to set aside 150 to 200 hours. That raises the question: Do you really want to sacrifice that time instead of spending it with family and friends?
The same goes for the wedding day—couples should be able to enjoy it with their families, friends, and witnesses without having to worry about any unforeseen issues or questions that might come up on the spot.
The most important thing is to figure out what you really want as a couple. Think carefully about what kind of celebration you’d like to have and what your wedding day should look like—regardless of what those around you “expect.” You should plan the wedding entirely according to your own wishes—whether it’s just the two of you somewhere in the mountains, a small ceremony at the registry office, or a large wedding reception. The planning and execution should also be based on your own ideas. Ideally, you only get married once, so you should plan the day exactly as you want it—true to the motto: Our day—our rules.
