Michael Banert ’s love of photography first took him away from his studies and then to the most beautiful places in Europe. Hailing from the Stuttgart area, this advertising and wedding photographer has been traveling across the continent for a decade and a half to photograph couples in love at breathtaking locations and to capture captivating wedding stories. His travels often take him to Austria, particularly to Vorarlberg, where he loves to photograph extraordinary and unconventional weddings featuring great concepts, relaxed guests, and lively celebrations. According to the photographer, weddings in the mountains, in particular, possess a certain magic. And his photos show just how well he can capture that magic.
Michael loves the mountains, nature, and quaint little towns with their unique charm. So it’s perfect that he also offers post-wedding photo shoots. During these sessions, the photographer makes use of moving images, giving couples the opportunity to capture photos and videos against truly special backdrops that might not be accessible on the wedding day or for which there simply isn’t enough time. To do this, the photographer heads to mountain peaks, the seaside, and other extraordinary and beautifully romantic locations.
But in the end, it doesn’t matter whether the setting is the Baltic Sea, the Alps, or the Mediterranean. Michael loves to capture the connection between two people through photography—unposed, genuine moments and deep emotions.

And so I decided against going to college and in favor of photography—and I haven’t regretted it to this day. I now work as a wedding photographer—mainly in Germany and Austria, but I’m also happy to travel throughout Europe.
It’s an honor forme to photograph the love between two people. I love photographing couples in a natural and authentic way, and it’s personally fulfilling for me to accompany them on such a meaningful day and to capture all the emotions as they unfold. I appreciate couples who don’t feel the need to conform for their wedding but instead plan it exactly the way they want. My job gives me the opportunity to travel and meet wonderful people. For me, the ocean and the mountains symbolize a sense of freedom. Mountain weddings, in particular, have something magical about them. I especially love photographing unique and unconventional weddings with a great concept, relaxed guests, and a lively celebration.
As far as photography goes: I’ve noticed that more and more couples want to book an after-wedding photo shoot in addition to their wedding photo coverage, so they can get photos with truly special backdrops—on a mountain peak, by the sea, or at other locations that aren’t accessible on the wedding day. Nowadays, it’s possible to fly to the coast for a day—quickly and affordably—and take unique photos.
As for wedding concepts: In addition to the enduring and trendy “boho” and “vintage” themes, there are now many new trends emerging—industrial weddings, rustic tables, and the use of lots of gold accents, for example. I think it’s great that more and more wedding celebrations are being visually enhanced with beautiful lighting—such as string lights or hanging tea lights. I’m also noticing trends toward live guitar music around a campfire or flying buffets without a strict seating arrangement.
