A Winter Wedding in the Style of *The Great Gatsby*

What would have happened if Jay Gatsby had gotten the happy ending he so desperately wanted? The answer to that question is revealed in the photos from this styled shoot. Except that the protagonists here aren't Jay and Daisy—they're Leo and Sophia.

Instead of taking place in a Gothic villa in Westegg on Long Island, this love story unfolds at Stixenstein Castle in Lower Austria, while the wedding design for this winter wedding celebrates the golden age of the 1920s as described in the book. It all starts with the stationery, which features Art Deco fonts and decorative elements on soft textured paper. Even the wedding cake looks as if it could be the Empire State Building’s little sister.

Every shade of color could have come straight out of a 1922 issue of *Vogue*. Not only is the pearl-embellished wedding dress an elegant off-white, but the decor and floral arrangements also feature delicate cream white, eucalyptus green, and gold, while rich black provides striking contrasts. Even the bride’s dramatically made-up eyes, combined with her boldly dark lips, evoke the style icons of the Roaring Twenties and are shown to their best advantage, especially in the couple’s photo shoot in the snow.

The wedding backdrop, designed especially for the bride and groom, also follows this style and features an elegant black-and-gold color scheme, creating the perfect backdrop for the lavishly set table.

What would have been a happy ending in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel is merely the middle section here. The preliminary climax of a fairy-tale romance and the beginning of a marriage—it couldn’t have been written any more beautifully.
