In his poem “Wiederfinden,” Goethe tells the story of a love that is unexpectedly rediscovered. In doing so, the poet opens up a joyful world of emotions that is reflected in this wedding inspiration.
The color palette, with its contrasts of cool and warm tones, reflects the transition from night to morning at this wedding. The floral arrangements feature no foliage at all and are presented in the delicate colors of dawn. The historic architecture of St. Florian Abbey, a letter written in hand-drawn calligraphy, and nostalgic elements tell a love story that feels as though it comes from a bygone era.
The opulence of that era, on display in the stationery and decorations, is counterbalanced by the modern-style dresses and the minimalist wedding cake—just as, in Goethe’s poem, the dawn breaks through the night.
