The dream of a castle wedding
Far too often, we grab the first pair of jeans we see in the closet in the morning, take the eco-friendly train to work like good citizens, and by evening we’re too tired to go out for a fancy meal. So we end up ordering pizza again. That’s exactly why—because in the stress of everyday life, that touch of glamour, the festive atmosphere, and the time to savor the little details often get left out—many couples have a strong desire for them. With a castle wedding, you’ll bring many magical moments into your lives!
This article covers the following topics:

Weddings at the Castle: More Popular Than Ever!
Whether you’re looking for a venue for your fairytale wedding in Graz, Feldkirch, or Vienna—the selection across Austria’s federal states is wider than you might think. However, so is the demand for these beautiful castles. That’s why you should really make your inquiry early and clarify any pressing questions about venues, costs, wedding catering, and options for the ceremony right away.

Opulent, yet modern.
A picturesque facade, Baroque ballrooms adorned with stucco, and a wood-paneled library—a castle has so many facets! A wide variety of locations and spaces—such as the dining room, the reception hall, or the castle grounds—can be effortlessly incorporated into the celebration. And contrary to what many boho enthusiasts believe, a grand castle doesn’t have to be any less trendy or modern than, say, a boho wedding in a flower-filled meadow. It just comes down to finding the right mix:
- Instead of the usual chair covers, you could, for example, use animal hides or simple bows—this adds a touch of lightness alongside heavy tapestries and old-fashioned acrylic paintings.
- Concert-style seating can look very rigid, whereas banquet-style seating is perfect for a castle! A herringbone arrangement is also lovely, or you could opt for a square layout. This layout is ideal for high-ceilinged ballrooms with lots of chandeliers. Sitting at the head of this table, you’ll feel like a royal couple from the Middle Ages!
- A wedding in a green setting is also possible at a castle. After all, most castles have beautifully maintained gardens. If there’s a wedding pavilion in the castle grounds, you’ve got that “Gilmore Girls” vibe right away. If you prefer something a bit more understated, you can set up a simple wedding arch or have a minimalist ceremony under an old linden tree in the castle grounds. Of course, the reception and celebration can still be held inside the castle—it would be a shame to use the historic building only from the outside.

Be a castle owner for a day.
A wedding at a castle really doesn’t have to be as baroque as the old building itself. Customize your wedding however you’d like—incorporate the styles that appeal to you. Different styles often blend together better than you’d think.
But most importantly, on your wedding day, you should feel like a prince and princess and be able to enjoy your magical castle moments together!
