On the day of the ceremony, she coordinates seamlessly with the music and photography teams and ensures that everything goes according to plan.
If you have a non-religious wedding ceremony, are you also legally married?
A non-religious wedding ceremony is not a legally valid marriage; the civil marriage ceremony is conducted separately by the respective civil registrars responsible for it in the municipality where the wedding is taking place. However, it is possible to incorporate the civil ceremony into the non-religious ceremony—this requires a very clear agreement and coordination between the wedding officiant and the civil registrar.
Why would you want a non-religious wedding ceremony?
A non-religious wedding ceremony is a ceremony that comes from the heart—whether it’s emotional, humorous, or happily both; with everything that’s just right for you. Tailor-made, so to speak. An independent wedding ceremony often takes place at your absolute dream location, where civil ceremonies aren’t possible. This might be an alpine pasture, by a lake, or even in your own backyard. With an independent wedding ceremony, you can incorporate your heart’s desires and help shape the entire event.
Is a ritual absolutely necessary?
Nothing is absolutely necessary for your non-religious wedding ceremony—that’s what matters most to you. A ritual can add a touch of lightheartedness and bring your ceremony to life. I’m often asked if I can bless the rings. When asked this, I’m happy to explain what “blessing” means: wishing the couple well for all eternity. I then point out that—depending on the number of guests—it would be lovely to involve the guests and have them bless the rings. This way, rituals such as the sand ceremony, handfasting, a traditional candle-lighting, and many others can be incorporated in a personalized way—exactly as you wish.
